AtlanticWave-SDX team to Showcase Innovative Networking Workflow at KNIT 11 FABRIC Community Workshop

vassi2025-09-15T17:24:38+00:00

The AtlanticWave-SDX team, will present cutting-edge advances in programmable networking at the upcoming KNIT 11 FABRIC Community Workshop, taking place October 14–15, 2025.

The presentation, “Programmable L2VPNs and Flow Analytics with FABRIC + AtlanticWave-SDX” is scheduled for October 15, 2025, from 1:35–2:05 p.m. in Track 2, Granite Ballroom North.

The team will demonstrate an end-to-end workflow where production traces are replayed through an FIU facility port into a P4 switch, generating in-band telemetry and flow digests for analysis. Leveraging the SDX-Lib API with token-based authentication, they will show how researchers can dynamically provision L2VPNs across AtlanticWave-SDX to steer selected flows for deeper inspection. The workflow concludes with machine learning-driven predictions on traffic behavior, highlighting how operator–scientist collaboration accelerates reproducible research and operational readiness within FABRIC.

The project emphasizes three goals:

  1. Flow Visibility – Using P4 telemetry to identify and inspect top flows.
  2. Dynamic Provisioning – Programmatically deploying L2VPNs on AtlanticWave-SDX.
  3. Predictive Insights – Applying machine learning on telemetry data to support advanced research collaborations.
